We recently attended the 2023 Alaska Economic Forecast Luncheon event in Anchorage, which brought together business leaders and economic experts to discuss the state's economic outlook for the coming year. The event featured details from the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) survey of 200+ local businesses and organizations.

The report noted that Anchorage’s economy has been diversifying in the recent years, with growth in sectors such as healthcare, professional and business services, and tourism. However, the oil and gas industry continues to play a significant role in the local economy. The event highlighted the some of the challenges facing Anchorage’s economy, including supply chain disruptions, labor shortages, and inflation. Despite these challenges, the report predicts modest economic growth for Anchorage in 2023, and emphasizes the importance of investing in education, infrastructure, and workforce development.

Overall, the AEDC's 2023 Economic Forecast provides a comprehensive overview of the opportunities and challenges facing Anchorage's economy in the coming year, and highlights the need for strategic investments and collaboration between businesses, government, and educational institutions to support the local economy's growth and diversification.
